Indian Tennis Star Rohan Bopanna created history on 27 January 2024 after clinching the Australian Open crown in Melbourne. Bopanna became the oldest man in the World No. 1 spot in the men's double. 

He won the prestigious Grand Slam Series event at the age of 43. According to analysts, age is just a number for him at the level he has been playing the sport. Bopanna, along with Australian partner Mathew Ebden, won the men's doubles at the season's first Grand Slam tournament.

Rohan said growing up as a tennis player, you just want to try and be the best tennis player at all levels. Rohan Bopanna's storied tennis career, nothing has come easy for him. The Coorg Star won his first major title at the mixed double French Open. He partnered with Gabriella Dabriwski, and the pair won the mixed doubles crown.

As usual, expectations shout up after his performance on the red dirt that year, but the men's doubles crown kept away. Rohan said he had thought of quitting the sport several times, in the past.

3). Novak pulled even with his idol, Pete Sampras, at 14 major titles, which was a memorable moment for him and his fans. 

4). Novak eliminated Nadal in the semifinals — becoming the only man to defeat Nadal twice at Roland Garros — then erased a two-set deficit in the final. 

5). Djokovic broke his tie with Nadal at 22 majors and became the first man to have won at least three titles at each Slam event. Indian para-athletics squad created history at the Hangzhou Asian Games with a record 111 medals win ended in China on 28 October 2023. This is the first time the Indian para sports contingent historic won more than 100 medals in both, 'the General and Para Games,' formats of the Asian games.

First time in The Indian Para Sports History:

It is also the first time the Indian para sports contingent has won 111 medals in any grand multisport events. India's medals tally crossed 100 for the first time in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, with a total of 101 medals, held in New Delhi. Another milestone was touched with 107 medals in recently held the Asian Games general format.

India won  29 gold, 32 silver, and 51 bronze medals and ranked in 5th position. China regained the first, Japan 2nd, Iran 3rd, and South Korea 4th. India has shown gradual progress in its ranking in the Para Asian Games since its inception in 2010.

Major achievements by The Indian Para Sports Contingent Historic W in Asian Games:

1). India has sent the largest-ever para-contingent, 303 athletes [191 male and 112 female], in this event. 

2). Women athletes grabbed 40 medals out of 111 which is the 36% to total count.

3). Indian para-athletes broke three world records in the event. Sunder Singh Gurjar and Sumit Antil in different categories of Men's Javelin and the men's compound archery team.

4). The para-badminton team won a maximum of 21 medals including 4 golds, 4 silver, and 13 bronze.

5). The 'Golden Couple' Prachi Yadav and Manish Kaurav won three out of four medals for India in the maiden para canoe event.

India's Sports minister Anurag Singh Thakur applauded the athletes' hard work and performance. He ensured that the government would continue to support the para contingent through its sports policies of 'Khelo India and Target Olympic Podium Scheme [TOPS],' these continued to attract talent across the country.

The Sports Minister added, "You will be happy to know that eight Khelo India athletes and 46 TOPS athletes participated at the Games and won a total of 38 medals out of 111. Also, the increase of the sports budget by three times as compared to 2014 has given us the ability to extend better support to all our athletes, be it in terms of coaches, training, foreign exposure, diet, infrastructure."
 

Paralympic Committee of India [PCI] President Deepa Malik hailed athletes and messaged the country that the para-athletes will sine in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. She remarked, "We have made history, our para-athletes have made the country proud. We will win more medals at the Paris Paralympics than in Tokyo."

As Prime Minister Narender Modi said, "India created History in the Asian Games" by clinching more than 100 medals while addressing participants at the venue of the Premier Asian Games Stadium.

This is the first time when the sub-continent hit the tone in the continental Games and became the fourth country to cross the 100 medals tally. India unprecedentially won 107 medals, including 28 golds, 38 silvers, and 41 bronzes.

Athletics is one of the most productive sports sections in the 2023 Asian Games for India. There are a total of 29 medals - 6 gold, 14 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Even in track and field sections, players rewrite three national records.

In archery, Indians broke their past achievements under the Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin Deotale. India won 9 medals including the 5 golds. India had only 10 medals tally in the previous 18 editions.

This was the first time Indian men's and women's cricket teams participated in the Asian Games. In both categories, Indian teams clinched gold medals.

Shooting is another sport where India won 22 medals. It includes 7 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze.
