Harappan Should Rename Vedic-Saraswati Civilization; Director American Institute of Vedic Studies

A big civilizational revelation by the Director of the American Institute of Vedic Studies said the Harappan should be renamed the Vedic-Saraswati Civilization. According to Vimal Harsh, it is time to remove the term 'Harappan' from the designating the ancient civilization of India.

Harappan Should Rename Vedic-Saraswati Civilization
Harappan Should Rename Vedic-Saraswati Civilization [Credit-The Human Journey]

It is inaccurate to call it 'Harappa' and ignores the nature and continuity of India's civilization. It is an artificial and incidental term deriving from the archaeological site of Harappa along with Mohenjo-Daro in Pakistan.

Newly Built Ayodhya International Airport Renamed After Maharishi Valmiki

Harappan and Mohenjo-Daro Civilization Ignores the Continuity:

Harappan and Mohenjo-Daro are the major ancient urban sites in greater India discovered in the early twentieth century [1921-22] before the partition of India.

Western archaeologists arbitrarily chose it to designate an entire urban civilization going back to 3500 BCE, which they viewed more as a lost civilization rather than connected to the later history and the continuity of Indian society.

Harappan and Mohenjo-Daro Civilization Ignores the Continuity

According to the director, the term Harappa does not suggest any continuity in India's history since the ancient period or give the Vedas any place to it. The name Harappan was proposed by the proponents of the Aryan Invasion theory, like Mortimer Wheeler.

It suited their norm because a non-vedic term was useful in perpetuating that theory. Even Wheeler also promoted the false theory of the massacre at Mohenjo-Daro by invading Aryans. This argument has been disapproved archaeologically.

Importance of Rakhigarhi Site in Vedic-Saraswati Civilization:

Today look at the site of Rakhigarhi in Kurukshetra in Haryana, Located in the Saraswati River region. it is traditionally regarded as the home of the Vedas. This site has been proven to be larger and older than Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro in the Indus River region.

As per the fact, Rakhigarhi is the largest Harappan site. Today, it would be more accurate to associate this ancient Indian Civilization with Rakhigarhi rather than Harappa. It even better reveals the geographical connections of these sites to later India and its prime historical regions.

Importance of Rakhigarhi Site in Vedic-Saraswati Civilization

The Harappan Civilization has also been called the Indus Valley Civilization because the Indus River region was the main location for the initial and prime sites discovered.

Vedic texts show a similar culture, artifacts, and geography to Harappan, like fire altars and Shiva lingas. We see a continuity of civilization in India from sites of 8000 years like Rakhigrahi or Bhirrana to the current Kurukshetra region in Haryana.

According to Harsh, further excavations have revealed the majority of the so-called Harappan or Indus sites were located by the Saraswati River. It is famous in Vedic texts which dried up around 4000 years ago, showing its antiquity.

Vedic-Saraswati Civilization as an Ancient Maritime Civilization:

The Harappan sites also have been found in Gujarat by the ocean. These ocean sites were found in the delta region of the Saraswati River to indicate it was a maritime culture from the Saraswati to the sea.

Vedic Civilization was also a maritime civilization with more than 150 references to the ocean in the oldest Rig Veda alone. It includes noting the Saraswati River flowing from the mountains to the sea.

The director of the American Institute of Vedic Studies added that using nondescript terms like 'Harappan' fits in with the terminology of the Aryan Invasion theory.

Because it separates the Vedas from the origins of India's civilization, which they [Colonial Scholars]wanted to maintain. Harappans are often called pre-Vedic or non-Vedic civilizations, which the Rakhigarhi has disapproved of archaeologically.

The rivers of northwest India also have ancient Vedic names, so-called Harappan sites, including Sindhu, Saraswati, Vitasta, Parushni [Ravi], Vipas [Beas], Shutudri [Sutlej], Yamuna, and Ganga.

Vedic texts show a similar culture, artifacts, and geography to Harappan, like fire altars and Shiva lingas. We see a continuity of civilization in India from sites of 8000 years like Rakhigrahi or Bhirrana to the current Kurukshetra region in Haryana.

Better to Call Saraswati-Sindhu Vedic Civilization:

According to Vimal Harsh, in place of the Harappan Civilization, it should be better called 'Vedic Saraswati Civilization' or 'Saraswati-Sindhu Civilization'. Using the term Harappan is a misleading term for India's historical study.

It does not suit and suggest the accurate center of the civilization on the Saraswati River along with its Vedic and Bharatiya connections. Indian Marxist scholars like Romila Thapar and Irfan Habib opposed the idea of the Saraswati Civilization.

Tamil Culture Icon Thiruvalluvar's Statue Unveiled in France

Today, it is unsurprising that these scholars are the main academic opponents of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. They denied that there ever was any Hindu temple at the Babri Masjid site, even after Professor B.B.Lal showed the evidence.

Prof. B.B.Lal, the Ex-Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India [ASI], showed not only the pieces of evidence but also wrote extensively on the Harappan as a Saraswati and Vedic culture. He was involved in the excavation of Harappan sites.

Unfortunately, these Marxist Scholars were given charge over India's history textbooks by the Congress government, not only for ancient periods but also for medieval and modern ones including India's independent movement.

The youth of India were provided with distorted views of India's history, devised them to own their culture and dharmic civilization, portrayed India as a country of invaders and no such religion as Hinduism exists but only a series of local cults.

Congress might restore these academics and their views when they regain power. Fortunately, Sri Ram has proved too strong for them and the Vedas can no longer be denied their core role in the history of Bharat.

The Iconic Role of Monkeys in Ram Mandir Movement and Inauguration

The Iconic Monkey Image on Atop The Dome on 30 October 1990

Validation of a direct connection between Ram Mandir and Monkeys has been proved by many pictures, photo images, journalists, and authoritative personnel. Indians and the Hindu community worldwide will never forget the day of 30 October 1990.

The Iconic Monkey Image on Atop The Dome on 30 October 1990:

It was October 30, 1990, an iconic photo from that 'Historic Day' of the Ram Mandir movement has returned to our collective memory as the country prepares for the 'Pran Pratishtha' [Consecration] ceremony of Lord Ram's idol at Ayodhya on January 22.

On that day, around 28,000 Uttar Pradesh Armed Constabulary personnel were deployed in Ayodhya. The deployment was to thwart the Ram Mandir 'Kar Seva' organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad [VHP].

It was the security 'Bandobast' by then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav who boasted self "Ayodhya mein parinda bhi par nahi maar sakta". The entire road to the Babri Masjid was barricaded with heavily armed khaki-clad men.

During the struggle between the security personnel and the karsevaks, a sadhu who knew how to drive a bus jumped onto the seat and started driving towards Babri Masjid. The police bus was used to detain karsevaks.

Swami Vigyanand, Joint General Secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad [VHP] called it a 'watershed moment' when the sadhu plowed through the barricades and opened the road for thousands of karsevaks.

Karsevaks braved hundreds of security personnel and moved towards the disputed Babri Masjid. Some karsevaks managed to climb on the dome of the disputed structure and planted 'Bhagwa Dhwaj'[Saffrin flags].

The security personnel deputed there soon began lathi-charging and shooting at the karsevaks to disperse them. By the offensive move of security personnel, the karsevaks were forced to retreat by the evening.

Deputed officials wanted the saffron flags [Bhagwa Dhwaj] removed from the domes but faced a unique situation. They found that a monkey had taken a position on the middle dome of the mosque.

The security officials saw the monkey as an 'Avatar' of Lord Hanuman, who had appeared to protect the flag, so they were unwilling to disturb it. The monkey kept sitting near the flag atop the central dome for hours.

Late at night, after the monkey left the dome, some police personnel climbed atop the dome and removed the flag. VHP functionary shares the iconic image of the monkey atop the dome published by many Hindi Newspapers on November 1, 1990.

The Monkey Image Again on July 23, 1992:

There have been recurring images of the Mankey [a symbol of Hanuman] atop the Babri Masjid dome during the Ram Mandir movement. Another photo from India Today's achieves takes the story further. This photo was clicked by Parmod Pushkarna on July 23, 1992.

The 'Kar Sewa' for the Mandir was suspended after the brutal killings of the karsevaks and re-started in July 1992. Though the karsevaks reached Ayodhya, the program was postponed. This time one monkey was also sitting on the central dome of the Babri Masjid.

Photojournalist Parmod Pushkaran, now 76, recalled I was intrigued that while security personnel and barricades prevented people from reaching the disputed spot, a monkey had reached the top of the dome. People were mesmerized and called that monkey "Hanuman ka Avatar."

There were a lot of restrictions in Ayodhya in those days. We used to hide behind buildings or climb onto roofs to take photos. That was a time when the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Movement was on full steam.

The Story of the Monkey in Opening of Temple Doors Order:

The reference to monkeys in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir case can also be found in the autobiography of KM Pandey. KM Pandey was the District Judge of Faizabad [Old name of Ayodhya] on Feb 1, 1986, who ordered that the doors of the Babri Masjid be opened for devotees to the 'Darshan of Ram Lalla Idol.'

In his autobiography 'Voice of Conscience,' published in the 1990s. Mr. Pandey mentions a divine power behind his judgment on that day. He narrated that on the date when orders for opening locks were passed, a Black Monkey was sitting for the whole day on the roof of the courtroom.

In the courtroom in which the hearing was going on, Monkey was sitting holding the flag post. Thousands of people of Faizabad and Ayodhya, who were present to hear the final orders, had offered him groundnuts and various fruits.

Strangely, the monkey did not touch any of the offerings and left the place when the final order was passed at 4.40 pm. The DC  and SSP escorted me to my bungalow. I was surprised to see him in my bungalow. I just saluted him and treated him to be some divine power.

However, KM Pandey's order to unlock the doors was turned down by the Allahabad High Court. It was to be part of a lengthy legal process that started with an FIR in 1858 after Nihang Sikhs barged into the Masjid-e-Janam Sthan and performed a 'Havan.'

The Story of Monkeys and The Supreme Court Verdict:

Senior advocate and former attorney general K Parasarn also talked about the incident of monkeys during the Supreme Court Verdict. Mr. K Parasarn successfully argued the case of Ram Lalla Virajman.

Mr. Parasarn narrated the matter on November 9, 2019, when the five-judge bench of the Supreme Court delivered the landmark verdict, ordering the 2.77 acres of land to be handed over to a Ram Janmabhoomi trust for the construction of a Ram Lalla Temple.

The Historic Verdict was delivered on a Saturday, and on the subsequent Monday, 30-40 monkeys appeared from nowhere on the terrace of his residence in Delhi. I was out on the open terrace on the second floor. Can't imagine so many monkeys that too around 8.45 pm.

They were playing, jumping, kicking......Lord Ram took care of it....69 years he waited for it, recalls Mr. Parasarn.

Monkeys have been perceived by devotees throughout the Ram Mandir movement as a manifestation of the divine power. The iconic October 1990 image of the monkey, splashed across newspapers, was one among that thread.

The architect of Ayodhya Airport is designed by Vipul Varshney. He created the aerodrome structure from the inspiration of Lord Ram's life. Mr. Varshney used the Nagara architectural style to build the airport. Nagara's Architectural style is quite famous in the northern or western regions of the country.

It has seven mountain peaks or 'shikaras' as per the Kanda Ramayan version. The India railways have also changed the Ayodhya railway station from 'Ayodhya Junction' to 'Ayodhya Dham Junction'.

Janakpur Indispensable From Ayodhya Like Sister City; Nepal Ambassador

Nepal is buoyed by the tourism prospects after the inauguration of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya after a month. Nepal's Janakpur is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram's consort Sita.

According to Nepal's Ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma, we are hoping pilgrims from across the world, who visit Ram's birthplace, will also visit Sita's birthplace.

Sister City Relationship Between Janakpur and Ayodhya:

Nepal's Ambassador said that both countries are working to establish a 'sister city relationship' between Janakpur and Ayodhya. He has been pitching Janakpur as an indispensable part of the Ramayan circuit ahead of the grand inauguration temple opening ceremony.

Mr. Sharma highlighted the Indian government plan in 2014, the Ramayan circuit retraces the life of Lord Ram and includes major pilgrim sites related to the Ramayan, along with Janakpur in Nepal.

He was speaking in a seminar organized by the Incredible Chamber of India in coordination with the Nepal Embassy last week on the Ramayan Circuit. He said to the Indian Express,

"After the Ram temple inauguration, the number of devotees will be more than doubled. Ayodhya is becoming more prominent............., so is Janakpur."

There is great road and rail connectivity from India to Nepal. They are developing further even within Nepal too.

Janakpur Indispensable From Ayodhya:

Janakpur earlier known as 'Mithila' is the birthplace of  Lord Ram consort Sita. Janaki Mandir, the birth site of Sita Mata, embodies the cultural heritage of Nepal. The cultural and religious pilgrim has become one of the major components for strengthening ties between India and Nepal.

With India and Nepal working jointly on the Ramayan circuit, Janakpur is a vital part. It will add to and aid tourism development in both countries. There are people in Thailand and Indonesia who also know about Ram and Sita. These places will interest them.

India-Nepal Shares Cultural and Religious Bondage:

Other than Janakpur and Ayodhya's sister city relationship, Nepal also has a Balmiki Ashram, like one in India. Sharma said Nepalese believe it is the original religious retreat where Sita spent several months.

This shows how so many people in Nepal love the Ramayan philosophy and ideals of Lord Ram. Nepal has also focused on supporting, developing, and promoting the Ramayan circuit in Nepal as well as in India.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, there are 15 thematic circuits from the Ramayan circuit and Buddhist circuit. These are the only two transnational circuits that include Nepal.

Janakpur Mayor Manoj Sah shared his thoughts during the event and said during his visit to Janakpur in 2018. PM Modi had announced a Rs 100 crore grant to develop the area. The project is in process and will be completed soon. During the Nepal PM visit earlier this year, PM Modi said that the Ramayan circuit was a 'connection between both countries'.

The Importance of the 1858 Nihanghs' Case in Ram Temple Jurisdiction:

This case garnered attention on November 9, 2019, when the Supreme Court of India gave its verdict in favor of the Ram Lala Temple. There were many evidences produced and one of them was this which led to the judgment in favor of Ram Lala Temple.

The information of offering langar seva on 22 January during the inauguration of Shri Ram Temple is shared by Jathedar Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur. Baba Harjit Singh is the eighth descendant of the family of Nihang Baba Fakir Singh Khalsa Ji.

The SC ruling cited the report by Sheetal Dubey, the Thanedar of Oudh, in November 1858. As per the case report,

"Today Mr. Nihang Singh Fakir Khalsa, a resident of Punjab, organized Hawan and Puja of Guru Gobind Singh and erected a symbol of Sri Bhagwan, with....... the premises of the Masjid. At the time.........symbol, 25 Sikhs were posted there for security. [Sic]"

The Descendent Would Carry Forward Their Ancestor's Devotion:

The 8th generation, disciples of Jathedar Nihang Fakir Singh Khalsa, Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur said he would be carrying forward his ancestor's devotion towards Lord Ram by holding a langar in Ayodhya.

As per Baba Harjit Singh Khalsa Rasulpur Ji,

" Now when the Prana Prathishtha [Consercation] of Lord Ram is..........on January 22, 2024, how can I lag behind."

Baba Harjit Singh added that he along with Nihang Singhs will organize a langar seva in Ayodhya on January 22 and will serve devotees coming from all over the country and abroad.

Baba said he has no affiliation with any political party and is only a bearer of eternal traditions. I would face criticism while maintaining harmony between Nihangs and Sanatan Dharma because on the one hand, I am an Amritdhari Sikh but on the other hand, I wear rudrakhsa mala around my neck.
